Clinical Psychologist

The founder and CEO of Mind at heart Wellness Clinic, Concilia Tarisai Bere, is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Global Mental Health researcher based in Harare, Zimbabwe. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Psychiatry and Mental Health and is a fellow of the African Mental Health Research Initiative and Science for Africa Foundation. She earned an MSc in Global Mental Health from King's College London and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Tarisai teaches at the University of Zimbabwe's Department of Mental Health within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her expertise includes behavioral sciences, integrating mental health into HIV care, and providing psychological support to patients. With extensive clinical and research experience, she has become a ‘trainer of trainers’ for adapted psychological interventions in low-income settings. She has played a key role in training community health workers and implementing Zimbabwe's Friendship Bench Project. As a prominent global mental health researcher, she has led the adaptation of numerous psychological treatments and contributed to developing numerous major manuals in Zimbabwe, including The Friendship Bench, Tendai (for depression and ART non-adherence in HIV-positive adults), The Bright Future (trauma-informed CBT for HIV adolescents living with HIV), African Youth in Mind (problem-solving therapy and behavioral activation for youth with depression and anxiety), Tendai Mothers (a self-help guide for perinatal mothers with depression), and Tendai4PrEp (psychological intervention for PrEP initiation during pregnancy). She also contributed to the WHO guide on implementing psychological interventions.

Dr. Simba is a licensed medical practitioner and a board-certified psychiatrist with extensive experience in both the public and private healthcare sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree as well as a Master of Psychiatry from the University of Zimbabwe. Throughout his career, Dr. Simba has demonstrated proficiency in diverse psychiatric treatments, including individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and medication management. He is also skilled in patient assessment, diagnosis, and developing comprehensive treatment plans. An avid cyclist, he actively champions mental health awareness and advocates for holistic approaches to mental wellbeing, emphasizing the importance of physical activity, social connection, and nutrition in mental health maintenance.

Cynthia plays a vital role in interpreting studies related to mental health, utilizing evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Problem-Solving Therapy, and Motivational Interview. Her extensive experience includes transcribing, translating, and back-translating psychological interventions for research purposes, contributing to the development and validation of therapeutic tools and protocols.

Jane Fusire holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Cape Town and carries a strong passion for mental health and psychosocial wellbeing. She currently works as a research scribe and academic journal writer for mental health research studies led by the Mind at Heart senior clinical psychologist. In this role, she has grown familiar with evidence-based psychological interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Problem-Solving Therapy and Behavioural Activation. In addition to her Bachelor of Social Work degree, she has undertaken specialized training in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, equipping her with skills to provide dietary education and lifestyle guidance. As part of an interdisciplinary team, she contributes to capturing and organising complex clinical and research discussions assisting in ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with professional standards.

André-Jesse Cele is a Zimbabwean creative designer and multidisciplinary artist with a strong background in digital illustration, social media marketing, and creative consultancy. Holding a diploma in Digital Art & Design and a certificate in Art Therapy, he combines artistic skill with therapeutic insight. André-Jesse has worked with organizations such as Friendship Bench, The Human Aspect, and ASSET Intervention, creating impactful projects that inspire, educate, and engage. His approach merges technical precision with a deep understanding of audience needs, making sure every piece is visually compelling and meaningful.

Tendai Dzuda is a researcher and data analyst dedicated to improving mental health through evidence-based practice. Holding a BSc (Hons) in Applied Statistics, Tendai designs, manages, and evaluates research projects, including detailed data extractions, to guide clinical decisions and improve therapeutic interventions. Working with psychologists, psychiatrists, and multidisciplinary teams, Tendai oversees the full research cycle from literature reviews and statistical modeling to outcome evaluation—transforming data into actionable insights that refine therapies, support progress tracking, and ensure culturally relevant care.
